Who we are

fitforlife.tel® has grown out of the work that EJT Associates Ltd has been involved with over the past 5 years in the field of psychology and human factors.

EJT Associates Ltd developed a structured group approach to managing stress in the work place 5 years ago, that proved to be effective and practical and has been taken on by organizations in the UK and across Europe. The resulting 6 session model integrated mindfulness and CBT in a practical and accessible way and is continuing currently in its group format.

fitforlife.tel® is a further development of this programme in response to suggestions from clients, which takes it a step further in flexibility, personal development and accessibility. We are excited by the pilot feedback we have had and feel commited to making the fitforlife.tel® programme available to as many people as possible. We believe that the programme not only improves issues in the work place but also in relationships and home life which leads to benefits for many people and a positive ripple effect in families and communities.

The fitforlife.tel® team comprises of experienced professionals from a wide ranging and diverse professional background. All have considerable expertise in the area of stress management and are passionate about the programme.

Emerald-Jane Turner, SROT, MISMA
I have been working in the field of psychology and mental health since I was in my early 20s. I originally trained as an Occupational Therapist and this stimulated me to think about what living to full potential means for different people. I went on to explore this further by studying meditation, and dance, and then to train as a psychotherapist. My personal life has thrown up challenges and applying what I have learnt has meant that I feel I can bounce back and rise to meet it with enthusiasm. I have been able to take this experience into organizations and develop programmes, one of which is Fit for Life, for employees to support them in feeling happier about their lives and choices that they make. Having witnessed so many people rediscovering satisfaction and happiness in their lives through participating in the programme I hope that you can too and I look forward to taking this journey with you.

Prue Rankin-Smith
I have a practice as a body-worker, counsellor and stress-coach and I am extremely enthusiastic about a holistic approach to health and well-being,  thinking in terms of the whole-being or system rather than their individual component parts.
Thirty years ago I came into contact with this work as a result of a very stressful situation in my own life and with a combination of counselling, deep body-work and meditation, turned my life around and started a fascinating and continuing journey. The fitforlife.tel®
I feel grateful to be a part of a programme helping to empower individuals to understand they have choices in their lives which can bring about lasting change.

Sue Fleming
My training in Social Work first led me to question how people could develop skills for a happier more fulfilling life.
I taught Art and Ceramics in a Secondary school for 18 years specialising with dyslexic young people.
A counselling training 15 years ago led to work with companies as well as individuals. Coping with stress and finding ways to remain resilient were common areas of concern and led me to train further in this field.
Enjoying a busy family life with 3 children at the same time as working means I have personal experience of how challenging it can be to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Suzanne Cumming, SROT, BAOT
My experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist spans over twenty-seven years in hospital and community environments.
I have specialised in Stress and Anger Management Training for over ten years, working within the NHS and private consultancy for industrial and commercial training organisations.
I joined EJT Associates four years ago to deliver individual and group programmes on managing stress and resilience techniques.
Individually I am motivated and energised through my work with people and problem solving, the fitforlife.tel® programme reflects my own passion for maintaining a healthy life style.

Mary Bredin MBACP, Post-graduate Dip in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
My background is in Nursing and I have worked in the Health Services for 27 years. I trained as Counsellor 11 years ago and now work part-time in a local hospice as both Counsellor and Co-ordinator of the Bereavement Service. I also supervise Clinical Nurse Specialists in the NHS.
I have additional training and experience in relaxation and stress management as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and am interested in helping individuals cope and manage change; both at an inner and outer level.
I believe the value of a programme such as fitforlife.tel is that it offers people an excellent opportunity to take control of their lives, while learning valuable coping strategies that allow them to be their ‘best self’ and enjoy life to the full once more.

Jean Waitt
I am 52 years old and I have worked as a social worker and counsellor for many years. For the past 18 years I have worked in a public company as a counsellor and delivered the stress reduction programme for 5 years.
I have developed my own personal style of working with people and combine practical solution focussed work whilst making sure I work within the framework of a good therapeutic relationship.
I really feel enthusiastic about the Fit For Life programme, as I have seen the results from the many groups I have facilitated over the years. It is so rewarding to see the positive changes in peoples lives and how although we can’t change the stressful situation we face we can change our responses to it and hopefully feel more calm and in control again. This can all happen by just making a few changes to life work balance.

Barbara Wheatley
I am responsible for all the ‘back room’ parts of the fitforlife.tel® programme.
My background is in teaching and I was a special needs coordinator in a large London school.  I have also worked as a theatre designer and still enjoy my involvement with the theatre, though it is now only as a hobby.
Once my own 3 children had grown up I started my own virtual assistance company supporting businesses & individuals with their administration & marketing.
EJT Associates was one of my first clients, so I have been involved with the Fit For Life programme for over 4 years now, and I know how much past participants have benefitted hugely from it.
I am so excited to now be part of the fitforlife.tel® team and look forward to helping your experience of the programme run smoothly.
